Originally used as a changing house in the 1920s for Venice Beach goers, the Electric Bungalow is an extensive renovation and restoration of the existing structure to create an open living concept 2 bedroom, 1 bath home. The project successfully expands the 800sf space with a new enlarged exterior patio under the large Canary Palm at the front of the property, extending the living space to the outdoors. The new plan allowed for a galley style bathroom to serve both as an ensuite and maintain public access to the rest of the home to make the most functional use of the otherwise tight space.
Electric Bowery completed the project with a thoughtful landscape design, grading a portion of the lot to allow for sunken on site parking that previously did not exist, as well as integration of a fire pit and new plantings to create privacy. All furnishing were selected by Electric Bowery team, some of which were custom for the home’s unique spaces including the coffee steel & reclaimed wood coffee table and outdoor dining furniture.
This home was featured in the 2013 Venice Garden & Home Tour.
